Jasmine’s Destiny

Chapter One

It was a cold evening in late November, and Tonya the Cat was getting ready to settle down, she got out of the hot steaming shower, dried herself off with a towel and then put on a long white woollen dressing gown.
She then walked into her Kitchen and began to make herself some hot chocolate; she made some with a marshmallow and then walked into her living room to watch the T.V. As she was channel surfing, there was a loud knock on the door, Tonya almost jumped out of her skin.
She put her drink down and walked to the door, as the knocking got more and more frantic, she began to run, “alright!” she called “alright I’m coming!” she reached the door and opened it, as she did, she saw a beautiful black cat standing in the cold wrapped in a black coat and hood.
“Jasmine?” she asked “what are you doing here?” “Hi Tonya” said Jasmine “can….can I come in for a bit?” “Yeah of course” said Tonya “come inside at once! You must be chilled to the bone!” Jasmine nodded in thanks and rushed inside. As soon as she got inside, Jasmine took off her coat and hood revealing her pointed black ears and silky black hair.
“Go into the living room and get warm” said Tonya “I’ll make you some hot chocolate” “Thanks Tonya” said Jasmine with a weak smile. Tonya smiled back at the cat and went into the kitchen to make the drink. After five minutes she returned with a large mug of creamy hot chocolate and a marshmallow floating in it.
Jasmine thanked Tonya and held it tight in her hands to feel the warmth, “so Jasmine” said Tonya “what brings you here?” Jasmine looked uncomfortable, “I really needed to see someone Tonya” she said “I went to see Rouge first but she was already with Shadow, as I walked up to her apartment I saw them on the sofa kissing on the sofa through the window, so I couldn’t interrupt them, so I thought I’d come here instead”
Tonya looked up thinking about her fellow detectives kissing on the sofa, “that’s so them” she thought, she then smiled at Jasmine. “So why did you decide to come here?” she asked. Jasmine looked down at the floor. “I don’t know if I should say this” she said “You’d think I was crazy”
“Try me” said the purple cat, “come on Jas, you know you can tell me anything!” Jasmine looked up into Tonya’s eyes and took a deep breath, “for the last few days” said Jasmine, “I’ve been plagued by strange visions and nightmares, in dreams and in awaking, I’ve been hearing voices, voices, calling to me, like someone is asking me to go to them”
Tonya’s eyes widened, “how?” she whispered, “who do you think is calling you?” Jasmine sighed “I have no idea Tonya” she sighed, “I’ve been having these dreams for days now, and I believe it’s far more than a coincidence, it’s like someone’s calling me to come to them”
“I don’t just hear” whispered Jasmine “I also see, I see images in my head, and I remember those images, from when I was younger, living on the streets, alone….” “what was the image?” asked Tonya, “a place, far away from here” whispered Jasmine, “very, very far away from here, it’s a place of snow and ice, an area with wooden stakes, with mountains and rocks, and right in the middle of these wooden stakes, is someone standing there, waiting for me, with their arms open, wanting to embrace me, and hold me….” Tonya stared at Jasmine not believing what she was hearing.
“Mother…” whispered Jasmine, “huh?” said Tonya, “it must have been my mother…” said Jasmine “that person….it’s coming clear to me…my mother, she was standing there, opening her arms to me! Her voice calling me to come to her….it was so real!”
“Jasmine” said Tonya “are you sure this is real?” “Why wouldn’t it be?” said Jasmine, “I know it was real! And I’m going to go to it!”, “what!” cried Tonya loudly, almost spilling her chocolate. “Yes!” said Jasmine, “This is a calling! From my real family! The ones who truly care about me, and I’m going to go to them!”
“How will you find your way?” asked Tonya, “my heart” said Jasmine, “my heart is my compass, my map, I just have to keep hearing the call, until I finally reach it” “But Jasmine!” said Tonya “you won’t survive out there! What if it’s a trap?” Jasmine looked at the Cat, “It can’t be a trap Tonya” she said “how can it?”
Tonya was running out of things to say, she didn’t know if she could ever get through the black cat’s skull, “Look” she said “I’ll make us some more chocolate” she said “then we’ll talk about this calmly” “Ok” said Jasmine, looking up at Tonya “but when we do talk, you promise not to tell Val and Devina about this?”
“No” said Tonya, “I promise” Jasmine smiled weakly at Tonya, and Tonya smiled back, then she went into the kitchen to make some more hot chocolate. When Tonya went into the kitchen, Jasmine stood up and walked over to a table where all the photographs in frames were.
She saw some pictures of the Chaotix standing together, she saw one of Shadow and Rouge together, another of the whole Chaotix together in front of the Chaotix Detective Agency. She then saw one of Tonya and Espio together, then another which was the whole Chaotix celebrating after a successful mission.
Jasmine then felt tears in her eyes when she saw some pictures of her, Val and Devina together with the Chaotix, she picked one of all three of them together up and her tears ran down her cheeks. “I’m sorry” she whispered “you all have been so kind to me….but this isn’t my place….” She put the picture down then walked quietly to the door.   
She then put on her black cloak and hood and stepped out of the door into the freezing cold, “Thank you Tonya” she whispered “don’t be too sad….” She walked further out and onto the street. She began to run towards the hills outside of the city. As she ran, her tears flowed.
Just as she ran out the door, Tonya walked back into the living room with two mugs of hot chocolate, she looked up to look at Jasmine, but saw she wasn’t there, she cried out and dropped the chocolate, “oh God!” she cried “Jasmine!” she ran to the door which was open and looked out “Jasmine?” she called “Jasmine!” but Jasmine had gone. “No….” she whispered “oh God….Jasmine…”

When Jasmine finally reached the top of the hill and looked back on the city, shining brightly against the night sky, as she stared at it with her eyes that were blurred with her tears, she saw all the faces of the Chaotix, and her two dear friends. “Goodbye Shadow” she whispered, thinking of Shadow, “Goodbye Rouge” she thought, thinking of Rouge.
She then pictured Espio, Tonya, Charmy and Vector whispering her goodbyes to them, then she thought of Val the Hedgehog, “Goodbye Valour, my hero, farewell” she then thought of the vampiric wolf Devina. “Devina, I will miss you, take care of Val, I know you will” She took one last look at the city, then turned on her heels and ran away towards the north.
